Hover Chamber Choir

Chamber choir “Hover” is from Armenia and has been singing now for over quarter of a century. Since the very beginning, the group has been under the supervision of its creator, Sona Hovhannisyan, a professor at the Yerevan conservatory.

The group is open to all kinds of chamber music, they have recorded 7 albums and took part in recording soundtracks for several films, e.g. Atom Egoyan (“Ararat”) and the Taviani Brothers (“La masseria delle allodole”). Armenian composers’ works dominate their repertoire, but they also perform, e.g. Krzysztof Penderecki’s pieces.

The choir gave concerts in Italy, France, Germany, Great Britain, Austria, Russia, Poland, Belgium, the US and on Taiwan. They participated in many competitions and festivals, performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Teatro Dal Verme, Cite de la Musique, Le Quartz, Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers or Strathmore Hall.

On the 20th anniversary of their work, “Hover” was awarded with a Golden Medal by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia (2012).
